Undated typescript copy of a report by Fred W. Cross, a military archivist at the Massachusetts Archives, dated February, 1920. The historical sketch describes "the part that Massachusetts took in organizing and equipping a regiment of volunteer infantry for service in Mexico . . ." based on records of the Massachusetts Adjutant General's Office. The report includes typed copies of United States and Massachusetts government acts and memoranda regarding Massachusetts' participation in the Mexican War. An appendix contains copies of additional letters relating to the history of the regiment; a biographical sketch of Caleb Cushing, colonel of the regiment; and a list of materials contained in the original typescript but not included in the copy. The typescript is accompanied by a carbon copy.
